Blue Sky Red Earth Food Expo:
Tempt your taste buds and dare to dabble in the desert delicacies on offer at this year’s Blue Sky Red Earth Food Expo. A partnership between Red Desert Live!, Business Broken Hill and Desert Knowledge Australia, the expo aims to showcase some of the unique foods of the region. The menu below suggests it is another great reason to head to Broken Hill this October.
BSRE Food Expo Menu:
- Roasted Saltbush Mutton with potatoes in jackets, beans and pumpkin served with a rich bush tomato or brown gravy
- Camel burgers served on damper buns with salad and/or a selection of sauces and chutney
- Antipasto platters featuring emu & goat prosciutto, limestone olives and BH Gourmet Olive Oil & dukkah with dipping breads
- Goat meat curry with quandong chutney served on rice with wedges of fresh damper
- Goat & Lamb sausages served on mashed potato with a tangy sauce and slice of thick crusty oven bread& caramelized onion
- Pistyachio encrusted lamb yiros lamb with a desert chutney and salad
- A selection of cutlets bbq’d and served hot from the grill with salad and a selection of desert sauces to choose between
- Barramundi Fishcakes with or without salad on a bread base and topped with a tangy fresh tartare sauce
- Choice of three Salads: green rocket, tossed and thistle & dandelion
- Delicious desserts to go with a dessert wine from the bar or a coffee or cup of goumet tea
- Chocolates by “Auntie Millie”
Broken Hill Art Exchange is also presenting a digital display of photographic work by Algate House/Salvation Army and a selection of works from professional Broken Hill photographers

The World of Women (WOW) Film Festival is a short film festival that promotes and awards the talents of women directors, producers, writers, editors and cinematographers in the Australian film industry and in Oceania. It is a unique festival that offers emerging and established filmmakers the opportunity to screen short works giving a thematic perspective of ... “seeing the world through the eyes of women”.
The film content on Sunday 4th Oct shown at the Art Gallery will include three short films from the film festival plus the feature film called 'Reservations':
