Celebrating music in the desert with friends!
Red Desert Live! 2009 is a Tourism NSW Regional Flagship Event run by a not for profit, community minded committee of volunteers. It is aimed at celebrating the desert with friends and provides a rare opportunity to experience an entertaining night under the stars in the magic of the Australian desert.
The 2009 event will include a full day’s festival entertainment in the desert on Saturday October 3rd featuring non-stop live music with headline performance by one of Australia’s favourite performers, Kate Ceberano.
Support acts include Neil Murray, Laura Hill and The Tuesday Bandits, Off the Handle, the Willyama High School performers among others, with the weekend featuring the Blue Sky Red Earth Food Expo, free children’s activities and local digital art as well as a range of other weekend events
Tickets for Saturday’s entertainment are $65 from GB Records (08) 8087 7191, Broken Hill Music (08) 8088 4840 and Bells Milk Bar. Groups of ten can buy tickets for the bargain price of $55 each if they purchase before 1st September. Children under 12 are free.
Blue Sky Red Earth Food Expo:
Tempt your taste buds and dare to dabble in the desert delicacies on offer at this year’s Blue Sky Red Earth Food Expo. A partnership between Red Desert Live!, Business Broken Hill and Desert Knowledge Australia, the expo aims to showcase some of the unique foods of the region. The menu below suggests it is another great reason to head to Broken Hill this October.

Broken Hill Art Exchange is also presenting a digital display of photographic work by Algate House/Salvation Army and a selection of works from professional Broken Hill photographers

The World of Women (WOW) Film Festival is a short film festival that promotes and awards the talents of women directors, producers, writers, editors and cinematographers in the Australian film industry and in Oceania. It is a unique festival that offers emerging and established filmmakers the opportunity to screen short works giving a thematic perspective of ... “seeing the world through the eyes of women”.
